William E. James was an early American photographer, lecturer, and inventor of photographic apparatuses, probably best known for his historical voyage to the Holy Land with Mark Twain. There is evidence that he was responsible for great advances in the art to which he was never given credit for.

7 issues projected not including free bonus material. All original stereo photography taken during The Quaker City Excursion (1865), The J. M. Hutchings Expedition (1875), and other historical events in New York, Washington, and California (1864-1875).
